Responsible for leading Mahaska Health projects, project teams and managing all activities in a project lifecycle, including initial planning, executing, and closing.   


  • Consults with Mahaska Health leadership (project sponsor) and third-party vendors to clarify and define project requirements, including risk analysis and development of all project-related documents.
  • Develops project plans and works with users to understand complex problems and focuses on bringing issues to resolution and escalating risks as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Produces and delivers project updates to Mahaska Health leadership.
  • Communicates project deliverables to Mahaska Health leadership.
  • Create project documents that meet a specific project need.
  • Tracks issues, risks and decisions.
  • Assists Mahaska Health leadership with managing a project budget.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of business requirements as well as leading and facilitating cross-functional teams.
  • Gathers project requirements and gains project sponsor approval.
  • Supports communication from leadership to project team.
  • Maintains composure under pressure, while multi-tasking and taking direction on a number of projects, seeing them through to completion.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office, (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access) (e.g. to run reports using excel to track information, Word for minutes and memos, Outlook for e-mail and appointments).
  • Communicates effectively and courteously with all co-workers, patients, and customers. Uses professional phone etiquette per organizational guidelines.
  • Uses professional telephone phone etiquette. Communicates effectively and courteously with all co-workers, patients, and customers.
  • Knows and complies with fire, disaster, universal precautions, safety, Joint Commission and other Federal and/or State regulations and procedures.
  • Conducts self in accordance with the Mahaska Health’s confidentiality policy; ensuring to follow all MHP training guidelines in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
  • Complies with all hospital required in-services and meetings.
  • Reports unsafe working conditions to appropriate level as required.
  • Attend required in-service programs and staff meetings.
  • Contact and communicate with vendors as appropriate.
  • All other duties as requested or assigned.


  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or two years’ experience in project management role
  • Experience in a professional setting, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality. Prior experience working in healthcare is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and professionalism.
  • Must possess extraordinary customer service skills with internal (co-workers) and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with excellent written and verbal communication skills is required.
  • Advanced level computer skills for standard programs including Word, Access, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
  • Ability to make sound and well-informed decisions and possess problem solving skills.
  • Maintains composure under pressure and while multi-tasking and taking direction on multiple projects and seeing them through to completion.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Required to show proof of having completed Mandatory Reporter course at time of hire or attend within 6 months of start date.
