Medical Secretary

The medical secretary is responsible for providing clerical support to the Medical Group providers and nursing staff.

• Acts as the primary resource for referrals and prior authorizations.
• Obtains prior authorizations for patient referrals to specialists, diagnostic testing and procedures.
• Determines and manages urgency of all referrals and prior authorizations and addresses appropriately.
• Coordinating and scheduling referral appointments for patients in need of external consultation as requested by the primary care provider.
• Ensures the completeness and accuracy of patient demographics and insurance information in a timely manner.
• Acts as the primary resource for chart preparation and data gathering for daily huddles.
• Data extraction and completion of ACO quality measures face sheet.

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• One year of secretarial experience preferred.
• Will be required to show proof of having completed Mandatory Reporter course at time of hire or attend within 6 months of start date.
• Must have strong computer skills-Microsoft Office or equivalent.
