A Clinic Nurse is responsible for delivery of patient care through the nursing process of
assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Also directs and guides patient
teaching, and provides assistance to the physician/nurse practitioner/physicians
assistant in all aspects, while maintaining standards of professional nursing in
accordance with the established methods and procedures of Mahaska Health
Partnership and the Medical Group.
All duties will be performed per scope of practice and clinic policy.
Assesses and documents physical, psychological, and social dimensions of
patients at clinic.
Prepares for and assists with office procedures.
Establishes treatment priorities based on medical and nursing diagnosis.
Documents nursing intervention and patient response.
Accurately prepares and administers medications as directed by provider.
Documents and reports adverse effects of medications.
Properly documents immunizations and medications.
Performs procedures such as (but not limited to) injections, immunizations,
phlebotomy, tympanograms, EKGs, vision screening, etc.
Makes referrals to other providers and facilities as directed by provider.
Triages and returns phone calls effectively and in a timely manner.
Reports test results to patients with instructions from provider in a timely
manner.
Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
Use the Electronic Medical Record system according to established guidelines.
