The Controller is responsible for coordinating, organizing and participating in the
Facility’s accounting and financial services to ensure services are provided accurately
and timely. Supervising the activities related to accounting, payroll, accounts payable,
budgeting, financial analysis, third party reimbursement, and auditing are included.


 Supervises and reviews work done in general ledger, fixed assets, accounts
payable and payroll to ensure these accounting functions are performed in a
timely, accurate, and appropriate manner. Continuously seeks opportunities to
enhance the process, reduce expenses or other operational efficiencies.
Implements new processes as required.
 Responsible for general ledger and financial statement month-end process.
Ensures completeness and accuracy of financial statements. Prepares monthly
statistical information and performs analytical review of month-end data.
 Ensures that all work is completed is a cost effective manner and that the
appropriate input is given regarding department budgets and operations to
ensure the cost effective utilization of the hospital’s financial resources.
 Maintains internal controls over the accounting functions.
 Develops, justifies and maintains departmental budget(s) for the area(s) of
responsibility. Monitors and maintains operating expenses, including salaries and
capital expense items within budgetary guidelines.
 County budget completed within required timeframes.
 Ensures that MHP is in compliance with reporting requirements by various
government agencies as applies to timely and accurate financial reporting.
 Supervises the Staff Accountant and Payroll Coordinator.
 Interprets organizational and departmental policies to staff, analyzes and
resolves worker and work related issues and initiates plan to motivate staff and
achieve work goals. Assures that all staff are properly trained and oriented to the

work environmental and have the necessary equipment and supplies to perform
their job to attain high quality results and cohesive work environment.
 Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
 Maintains regular and reliable attendance.


 BS/BA in Accounting, CPA preferred.
 5 years previous hospital accounting experience with 2 years of management
experience preferred.
 Intermediate knowledge of spread sheet applications and other computer
software for budgeting, and other financial and statistical analyses.


 Required to show proof of having completed Mandatory Reporter course at time
of hire or attend within 6 months of start date.
